Dear Quick Styx Parents and Players,

We are looking forward to a great 2022 lacrosse season and the continued growth of girl’s youth lacrosse in Seattle and the state of Washington!

The QAQS board has been hard at work with pre-season planning. Below is a guideline on teams, times, and locations, but the specific team details will be sent by your coach on Team Snap.

Practice Locations: Our fields are Queen Anne Bowl, Lower Woodland #2, Ballard High School and Interbay (turf field). Practices will start the week of February 28 (except 8U)

Games: Games are Saturdays and Sundays. Our home field is Queen Anne Bowl. Your team will car travel. In order to grow the game, it is important we make every attempt to field full teams for each game regardless of the location.

Volunteer jobs: We are a volunteer-based organization and rely on everyone’s participation for a successful season. We have a wonderful dedicated board and are looking to add to this group so if you have special talents or would like to join the board please reach out to me. Your coaches will need help as well and you can start by signing up to be the Team Manager, Field Set-Up and Sideline Manager (who controls the parents). Please get involved — it is fun and necessary!

Team Website/Team Snap App: The following link is our team website: queenannequickstyx.usl.la Login with your User ID and PW you used to register, click on the Teams Tab, Division (example 12U) and then your specific grade team.

Team Snap app is how coaches communicate with teams.  Your coach will invite you to join Team Snap. Team Snap also streamlines our Covid Health Check system and Contact Tracing as part of confirming availability for practices and games.

Time commitment: Our goal is registered players attend 75% of all team practices and games. This allows the girls to see improvement in their skills, build camaraderie as a team, learn to play together and feel a part of this program. We encourage our players to play multiple sports and communication is important. If you have a conflict and will miss a practice/game please let your Coach and Team Manager know ahead of time using Team Snap. This is respectful and it allows everyone to plan accordingly.

Equipment: US Lacrosse has equipment guidelines found here. Please pay close attention to:

  • -  Eye Wear Equipment – When you purchase your eye-wear makes sure it complies with ASTM standard, model number F3077.

  • -  Mouth piece – Players must have a colored mouth guard as it makes it easier for referees to see the mouth guard versus white teeth. The girls will not be able to play with a white or clear mouth guard, and the mouth guard cannot be attached to the goggles.

Officiating: Please contact me if anyone in your family is interested in being a referee.  This is a great way to give back to the sport, and refereeing is a fantastic and flexible paying job for high schoolers.  There is equity in referee pay for girls and boys games ranging from $33-50 per game depending on grade level.  Please contact: Jim Vanderslice for more information .

We thank you for reviewing this team information together with your player, and look forward to a great 2021 spring season with Queen Anne Quick Styx.
